Licensed Site. All units welcome.
Site open from 1st March to 31st October
The campsite, bunkhouse barn and
holiday cottages are situated within a sheep farm, in
the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
Both campsite fields can accommodate tents, caravans and
motor homes, and there is still plenty of space to play
ball games and fly kites. Enjoy a completely clear view
of the night skies, free from light interference, and
experience the almost complete silence of warm summer
nights.
The majority of the area is flat and
level; some parts are gently sloping, with all of the
fields having lots of shelter provided by high hedges
and trees. There are views across the moors from most
parts of the site, and there are views of the North
Yorkshire Moors Railway (heritage steam-operated) from
some parts of the site.
The main campsite has 30 pitches, and
there is an additional 60 pitches for use in busy times.
There is a small meadow ideal for back packers opposite
the farmhouse, adjacent to the N Y M railway.
DOGS are welcome but must be kept
under control at all times on the site and can be
exercised off the site. Please note we are a farm
site; bring appropriate footwear!
This campsite is a private home
and business and is not owned by the camping and
caravanning club.
Directions
See our
how to get here page for detailed directions and
public transport advice. In Goathland, the farm is
sign-posted next to the Goathland Hotel, opposite
Goathland Garage. The farm is about 800m along the lane.
The lane, which is a bridleway, is the trackbed of the
original Whitby to Pickering railway, and crosses a
neighbouring farm to reach our site entrance, marked
with sign boards. The camping fields are on both sides
of the track, the facilities and reception are a little
further on, turning left, towards the house and
farmyard.
Facilities
Showers, toilets, CDP, wash-up sink,
washbasins and disabled/family shower room are in the
building attached to the bunkhouse barn (hot and cold
water, 24 hours); the building is fully lit. There
are also toilets, wash-up sink and CDP on the main site
(cold water only), torch needed!. Drinking water taps
(spring water) are located at several convenient points
throughout the site.
Note that the site fields and their
access lanes are unlit, ensure you bring a good torch /
lantern!
On-line grocery orders
Asda, Tesco and
Sainsbury deliver orders to the site.

for barbecues, whether gas or charcoal. Do not
light fires or barbecues inside awnings or gazebos.
All barbecues must be extinguished
and quiet observed by 11 pm. This is a sensitive
moor-land conservation and SSSI location; please respect

CUSTOMER COMMENTS
Fantastic location in
lovely surroundings. Couldn't fault it, good value for
money. (September 2014)
This farm site is
amazing, there's so much nature and wildlife to be seen!
(August 2014)
This
is not the first time we've visited this lovely site and
we will certainly be going again. (August 2014)
If
you don't like the bugs, nature, the joys of dirt
tracks, climbing rocks and seeing waterfalls and mother
nature at her best, why camp? We will definitely be
returning for another visit, couldn't fault the place.
(July 2014)
Beautiful country and lovely site, very peaceful -
we'll definitely be back soon. (July 2013)
Thank you for a wonderful holiday. You all have
been so nice and helpful as this was our first camping
experience together. Thank you very, very, very,
very much! (July 2012)
This is (and is advertised as) a Farm Campsite. It is
not a super-plush, overflowing with facilities type of
place. If you want a no frills, simple, hassle-free
campsite for a few days it does the job very well. Check
that this site provides what you want before you go and
then you won't be in for a surprise and leave a
misguided review afterwards, based on your own incorrect
expectations! A good campsite, away from noisy roads
(but near the North York Moors Steam Railway), with
basic but clean and effective facilities. (July 2012)
Thanks for a
wonderful weekend. (June 2012)
More free
hot water than a five star hotel. (2012)
We loved this site we would recommend it
to anyone who prefers farm type sites and we will
definitely be returning. Well done Abbots [House] Farm.
(August 2011)
There's plenty of space to pitch and have
space around you. The facilities are great, we prefer
farm campsites where facilities are in keeping with
staying in the country, (August 2011)
We have just returned from a weekend stay
at this site and would definitely return again. The
owners were very friendly and helpful. (July 2011)
Everything was clean and well serviced
although the showers were a little walk away (not really
a problem). (July 2011
)For a beach day, head to Sandsend rather
than Whitby. It's a long sandy beach that is rarely
overcrowded, with toilets, cafes and pubs in the village
area. Lots of rock pools at low tide at the north of the
beach. (June 2011)
We spent a full seven nights at this lovely clean quiet
site in the heart of the national park.
There is hot water wash-up, showers and more toilets at
the bunkhouse under the bridge. The showers are hot and
free!
